Since the premiere of its first episode this past March,MobLandhas quickly become one of the most popular series streaming on Paramount+ right now. Led by an ensemble cast that includes the likes of Tom Hardy, Pierce Brosnan and Helen Mirren, the series has earned glowing reviews from both average viewers and appreciative critics alike, leaving little reason to wonder about its trending popularity today. As positive asMobLand's recent critical success has been, however, one notable aspect of the show's production has notably caught the ire of mainstream audiences. Above all else, Brosnan's thick Irish accent for the character Conrad Harrigan has earned a noticeably harsh response from viewers at home. Brosnan -- who is himself Irish, having been born and raised along the eastern region of the country -- has recently responded to the criticisms against his performance inMobLand, citing the regional differences in both his and his character's respective accents. "My own accent is very soft," the formerJames Bondstar toldRadio Timesmagazine. "Conrad's accent is a million miles away from me." In explaining where the character's voice came from, Brosnan told the publication that he spoke with his dialect coach early in the show's production. "I told him that I needed a Kerry accent, so he gave me the name of a man and I Googled the guy and that was it," said the 72-year-old Brosnan. "It was a Kerry accent. And so, I just gave it full tilt." As of yet,MobLandhasn't officially been renewed for a second season, although it's worth pointing out the show's incredibly favorable performance on Paramount+. On its first day on the streaming service,MobLandgarnered an audience of 2.2 million global viewers: the highest in Paramount+'s past history. With those kinds of numbers, it's more than likely the show will return to the streaming service -- something Tom Hardy himselfhopeswill be the case.
