The English pop star, 37, and the retired basketball player, 41,welcomed their son, Sky, in May 2023after two years of dating, and Jessie's been more than impressed to learn Colman's a natural when it comes to being a parent. "He has exceeded my expectations as a father beyond my imagination. I'm so grateful that he is so present and just so willing to adapt around obviously my career," the Grammy-nominated artist, whose new single "Living My Best Life" is out now, tells PEOPLE over Zoom from a recording studio. About four years into their relationship, however, don't expect to see Jessie and Colman tying the knot anytime soon. "We talk about it all the time, and we laugh about it all the time, and I'm sure we will, but we're not in any rush," she says. "I've always said that I'm not too fussed about getting married, and some people get really funny about that, but it's my own preference." "I would love to get married when Sky's old enough to know what's happening so that he can be really a part of it and enjoy that moment of seeing Mummy and Daddy come together in our love," says Jessie, who feels as though she's already married to Colman. While the timeline isn't set in stone, marriage is in their future "one day," she predicts — but Colman is in charge of exactly when that happens. "I'm not proposing, even though I'm always the one that makes the move. I made a move on him, so he's got to make the move on me," quips Jessie. The "Price Tag" singer has long felt marriage is "quite contractual," she admits, "but I also would like to do a ceremony of love and just have our friends and family." "But I'm not in any rush.
