Less than a month afterthe shocking deathofPeter Krause's beloved character, Captain Bobby Nash, season 8 of the procedural drama has come to an end. The intense May 15 finale proved that change is everywhere, but the one thing that remains is Bobby's legacy. Disney/Christopher Willard As Eddie (Ryan Guzman) prepared to move back to Texas, the team gathered for his farewell party. It was there that Hen (Aisha Hinds) shared that she would not be taking the open captain position, and Buck (Oliver Stark) revealed he would be transferring out of the station without Bobby there anymore. "Out of the 118?" Eddie asked, to which Buck responded, "It's just a number now." Amid mourning the major loss, Chimney (Kenneth Choi) was also celebrating a new life as he and Maddie (Jennifer Love Hewitt) welcomed their second baby into the world. The moment was bittersweet, as Chimney knew he would not be there if Bobby hadn't sacrificed his own life to give him the final antidote that saved him from the hemorrhagic fever. The moment grew even more emotional when Bobby's wife, Athena (Angela Bassett), went to visit the family and learned that they named their son Robert Nash Han, after her late husband. "Hello, Bobby," Athena tearfully said, admiring the newborn as Joel Ansett's "Tragedy Is Not the End" played in the background. Christopher Willard/Disney Chimney was also coming off the heels of his dramatic rescue of Graham (Sam Roach) from a deadly building collapse earlier in the episode, where he reminded the team of Bobby's determination as motivation to keep going. "If Bobby taught me anything, it's that we always have a choice," Chimney told Buck and Ravi (Anirudh Pisharody) before they rushed in to save Graham's life. Christopher Willard/Disney Back at the station, he emphasized the importance of sticking together and told Eddie and Buck to stay at the 118. "Bobby died so that I could live, and it has screwed me up in ways I cannot fully express," he told the team. "But the truth is, he would have done that for any one of us. He knew that just coming in to work every day, there was a chance that one or more of us would not make it home. His job above everything else was to make sure that we did, and we are all standing here right now because of him." "This team, we are his legacy," he continued. "So we can miss him, and we can mourn him, and we can even curse his name, but we are not going to disrespect him by throwing away what he built right here." Hen then hinted that Chimney would be stepping up as captain, saying: "Copy that, cap. I mean, Chim." In April 2025,ABC renewedthe popular procedural drama for season 9.
